Comprehensive Planning

Comprehensive planning is governed by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 213.      

The City of San Marcos hosts the “Comprehensive Planning for Small Texas Cities” document. Some of the information is a little older, but the ideas surrounding the purpose and usefulness of comprehensive remain useful.

Knowing that many city officials like to look at the ways other cities around the state are doing things, below are links to several award winning comprehensive plans from cities large and small.

Lubbock, TexasPlanLubbock 2040 won a 2020 APA Texas Comprehensive Planning Award.

Seabrook, Texas – Seabrook’s Master Comprehensive Plan 2034 won an Honorable Mention 2017 APA Comprehensive Planning Award.

Brenham, TexasPlan 2040 also won a 2020 APA Texas Comprehensive Planning Award.

Royse City, TexasRoyce City 2030 won a 2017 APA Texas Comprehensive Planning Award.

Kennedale, Texas – Kennedale’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan won a 2013 APA Texas Comprehensive Planning Award

Boerne, TexasBoerne 2018 Master Plan won a 2019 APA Texas Comprehensive Planning Award
